It’s WHITE. It’s JUICY. It’s GREAT…
Luigi & Fioriana Baudana made wine from their small patch of vineyards in Serralunga for 30 years but eventually decided they had to sell up. They found their match in the Vajra family (we stock their delightful Dolcetto) and the partnership has continued to produce brilliant wines from Northern Italy. This wine blends four grapes with the majority being Chardonnay, followed by Sauvignon Blanc, Nascetta and Riesling. The result is a citrus burst on the nose followed by juicy stone fruits, peach, apricot and mango. It is the Nascetta that deserves a special mention. Native to Piedmont it is always overlooked by its bigger brother Nebbiolo but this white grape has the aromatics of muscat and delivers an elegance to this white that should not be underrated. If you’re looking for an alternative to Burgundy white then come to the rolling hills around Alba and the appellation of Langhe, there be dragons here and they be ripe for sipping.
