It’s RED. It’s RICH. It’s GREAT…
Portugal is not just about it’s fortified Port wines, in fact the country as a whole is tremendously underrated as a wine producer however that may be because they are also the country that drinks the most of the wine they produce at home, so not much of it gets exported. If you’re not a convert then start trying their fruity aromatic whites and bold warming reds and you will not be disappointed. Gradual Tinto is a prefect example of a spicy brooding rich red that can be drunk with or without food and is the perfect first step to enjoying Portuguese wine. The vines are 40yrs old, grown at altitude and then the grapes are fermented in slate vessels with minimal intervention meaning maximum purity of fruit flavours and a distinct minerality providing balance to the rich red fruit flavours that are classic of the grape varieties.
