This is the new Garnacha on the block. All the old vines but with a spring in its step. The friends Fernando Mora and Mario López behind this are on a mission to redefine the ubiquitous grape. Based in Calatayud, north east of Madrid they have teamed up with Bodegas San Alejandro, a cooperative with some of the highest and finest vineyards in the area. We like revolutionaries at BOTTL and while we’re here to transform your wine buying experience, here’s a wine to challenge your preconceptions of a well loved grape.
We can tell you we’ve had a taste (we wouldn’t really be doing our job if we hadn’t) and this SUPERB wine brings a pronounced freshness to this usually robust grape.
And the name… As well as being Fernando’s surname MORA in reverse, Matt, being half Spanish, informs me AROM also means blackberry. Happy coincidence!
