Riesling is too sweet! Said no one. Well maybe someone. Often thought of as a sweet wine Riesling is actually fresher than a freshman and on top it delivers depth of flavour and aroma that make it by far one of our favourite grapes.

This beauty is made by Fred Loimer in the region of Kamptal, Austria where his father made wine before him. Despite the unfair stereotype, many Austrian winemakers don’t actually make the sweet style wine people associate with the variety. Fred manages to get the grapes from his cool climate vineyards to full ripeness and then ferments them all the way until the wine is dry whilst retaining a vibrant acidity. We say Riesling is better made fresh, then chilled, then supped. “Right!” said Fred.
