It’s WHITE. It’s JUICY. It’s GREAT…
Pinot Grigio, the ubiquitous dry white at the local pub. It is not usually the wine we would reach for. Many cheap pinot grigios have a slight synthetic, pear drop, perfumed taste but this one from Gasper is a different story. Made just over the border from Friuli-Venezia Giulia northern Italy, this Slovenian vineyard has been making wine for 50 years. The vines are on steep slopes and benefit from the warm Mediterranean sea air which combined with Alpine winds means the grapes ripen gradually throughout the year creating a beautifully balanced wine.
Whilst you might expect Pinot Grigio to be fresh, this has a little more complexity. With ripe pear, grapefruit, pineapple, melon and cinnamon flavours, it has to be JUICY for us!
